8 weeks 4 days

So today's update will be kind of boring. Not much going on, tomorrow is when all the real action happens. Last night was fun,. I got to have a moms night for my friends Indah's birthday. I also got to veg out on an Indonesian feast while I was there, which at the end of the night ended up being a mistake because I lost it all when I got home. Now this morning I woke up craving an extra crispy bagel with butter and cream cheese. I cannot wait to go to the grocery store in a bit so I can get just that.

I am currently making some baby hats and matching booties for a family member that is expecting twin boys. I love crocheting and this baby will be decked out in crocheted stuff. But I broke my needle yesterday so, my big plan for the day is going to buy a new one! I live such an exciting life. lol
I will update tomorrow after my doctors appointment and will hopefully have new baby pictures of our little spawn :)

Just a little fun

I found a list of 6 old wives tales that are said to tell wether you are having a boy or girl... so lets see.
I am hoping for another boy, and of course Mark wants a daddy's girl. My instinct tells me this is a girl though.

1. Pay attention to which way you lay down in bed tonight. If you prefer sleeping on your left side, you'll have a boy. Right side? Your pregnant with a girl. ( Well I always sleep on my right side, but that is because I don't want Mark breathing in face all night. lol) = Girl

2. Upset Stomach? Little girls aren't always sweet. Extreme nausea means you are having a daughter. (I am usually hugging the bowl at least once a day this pregnancy) = Girl

3. If your hands are dry during pregnancy, you are having a boy; soft -- expect a girl. (My hands have stayed normal and soft) = Girl

4. Your favorite pregnancy foods may tell you what sex the baby is. If you're craving citrus while pregnant, you're having a girl. ( I have had a thing for apples, I don't remember if those are a citrus though. On the other hand I have been craving fried chicken too) = undetermined

5. If altering hormones makes your skin break out, expect a girl. ( I keep telling people I am breaking out more than a 13 year old boy going through puberty) = Girl

6. If your age and year of conception are both even or odd, it's girl. One even, one odd means a boy. ( I was 22 at conception and it was 2011, so that is even and odd) = Boy!

Very interesting... Well according to these it is a girl... we shall see soon enough.

Labor Prediction Quiz

I think the title says it all. I found an interesting quiz that asks you a bunch of questions about your mothers labor, my mother in laws labor, and my previous babies and then it makes a guees as to when this little raspberry will show up.

On another note nausea put me down for the count this morning and afternoon. I was lucky that Mark got off early so I could go nap, and then he took me driving around in search of the famous Preggie pops which are supposed to help with nausea. We had no luck so it looks like I will have to order them offline from amazon or babies r us. I am considering talking to my doc on Tuesday about possibly getting some nausea medication for the really rough days, but I am trying to stay away from any type of medicine during this first trimester. I will just see what he recommends. On the menu for dinner tonight is something I have been craving like crazy.... fried chicken and biscuits dipped in honey. Yumm!

this was my result for the quiz mentioned above.:

Your labor prediction quiz results are below.....

Get your bags packed early just in case you need them. Make sure your partner has a phone available when he's away because this baby just might come early. We predict your baby will come 2-3 weeks early. Your baby will most likely be born in the middle of the night. Justmommies predicts that your baby will weigh approximately 5.3 pounds and that your labor will be about 10 hours long.

8 weeks and crazy dreams

So our embryo graduated to a fetus today! It is also roughly the size of an inch, or a raspberry. My morning sickness has been very tolerable the past day or two which is a nice change. I also have another appointment coming up next Tuesday :)

A big thing with being pregnant I think I are the crazy dreams you have. Last night I had 5 different nightmares. Every time one would wake me up, I would fall back to sleep and have another one. The one I remember the most vividly is the last one. My mom was driving and Superman was in the car behind her. He was driving recklessly and he rear-ended her so hard her car flipped off a bridge. She ended up dying and Superman was not held accountable for his actions because of who he was. Seriously?! Who dreams stuff like that. haha So lets interpret this dream, I found a site that can help. Dream Meanings

A bridge was involved which means: Bridge: This is a classic symbol of transition. Water is often involved as well. The key to the meaning of the dream is whether or not you were able to cross the bridge

Death:  Coffins, and other symbols of death, are not premonitions. Rather, they are symbols of change and moving on in a career or in a relationship.

A car:  Cars: Such dreams are related to the level of control you have in your life. The physical condition of the car, as well as your location in the car (for example: Are you the one driving, or are you a passenger?) are reflections of how in control you are feeling.

This is very interesting. I will have to start interpreting my dreams everyday :)

Back again!

So sorry for my little leave of absence. Things have been hectic in our house! Goob had the flu so I was awake for almost 24 hours straight with him. He were under tornado watches and warnings, sirens were going off for hours at a time, and the rain and winds were horrendous. They messed with our internet because we have local internet which sucks most of the time. I am lucky to pull 2 bars but these past couple days I have been getting maybe 1 if that.

Well so today I am 7 weeks and 5 days! woo hoo DH and I have done the ring test which indicated a boy. The video is above :D Also here are some pictures. I will make sure to be back daily!

As for symptoms today: Extremely tired, gassy, naseuos, and back ache.

Baby predictions...

So there are tons of ways that people believe they can guess the sex of their upcoming bundle of joy. One way that is pretty popular is the Chinese gender prediction chart. I have seen it be right for many many people. For me it was wrong for Lucas, I'm not sure with Carson because I was 17 when I conceived him and the chart starts at 18.

So according to this handy little chart I am currently expecting a girl! We can only hope. I was 22 when I conceived and it was December 15th that this little baby started to form when the spermy met the egg!

I am currently 6 weeks and 6 days along and morning sickness is still kicking my butt. It has become an everyday thing, all day long. I have been sipping on water which seems to help a little. I have seemed to have this weird craving for a sandwich but I only want mayo, yellow mustard, and cheese on it. haha pregnancy is so weird.

Football time.

I will get a afternoon of rest! Mark is going to our neighbors house to watch the big game today in approximately 23 mins! Me and my morning sickness butt can crawl into bed with my little monster and watch cartoons. I love days like this. Oh you remember when I told you how smart Goob was? Well he is currently working on a 100 piece lenticular puzzle, he does very well at them too.

6 weeks 2 days

These weeks are just going by so fast! *knock on wood* I am now 6 weeks and 2 days and the little spawn is roughly the size of a blueberry this week! The biggest development is the brain, so of course s/he will be just as smart as their momma! I have been absent the past couple of days because I have been horribly ill. This morning sickness has turned into an all day sickness with yours truly throwing up several times a day.

I finally got some relief last night and was able to have a girls night with my friends at a Girls gone Gorgeous event that was held on base. It had a desert table, an open bar, free haircuts, free manicures, and lots of prizes. I had a blast and it was nice to have some mommy time. I won the most ironic gift I could of gotten... a wine basket. It has 2 bottles of wine and 4 wine glasses. Awesome. I can't even drink it! lol I also got a swag bag for being one of the first 150 people through the door. It contained a bottle of shampoo and conditioner from a salon. Which was good cause I needed some more.

Finally we went out for dinner tonight, which is rare in our household. I love to cook and I do so every night. We go out to eat maybe once a month. I had a plate of baby back ribs, baked beans, french fries, and Cole slaw. I was in heaven. I slathered my french fries in ranch, and devoured everything. Mark ordered us some homemade peach cobbler to bring home, and we are relaxing the rest of the night watching season 3 of Dexter. I did find out tonight that I have a huge aversion to honey mustard, something about it makes my stomach churn. Not good. At least I know to steer clear of that for the next 8.5 months.

All sorts of good

I have been talking about getting a necklace or ring in honor of Lucas since everything happened. Well for Christmas my mom decided that is exactly what she would get me, so she let me go and personalize it and it would be in sometime at the end of January. They lied! It got here today, I am so excited and it's absolutely perfect. It is 18k gold with 2 birthstones inside of the hearts. On one side it says Carson with his February birthstone and in the other heart it has a June birthstone with Lucas's name. I have to say this is one of the best presents ever.

So today, this morning sickness seems to be kicking my butt. I never experienced being naseuos this early with either of the boys. It helps to sip on cool water, so of course I am using the restroom every two minutes. Also on a sweeter note, Mark made me breakfast this morning and it was amazing :) There was so much I ended up sharing with Goob.

Baby's first picture!

So I had my first OB appointment today, It went as good as could be expected. I had a pap done and an ultrasound. I got to see our little bean's heartbeat slightly fluttering. It was a great feeling. I cannot wait to break out our at home doppler, but I know that is still a couple weeks away. The baby also measures right on point at 5 weeks and 5 days, just like I thought. It really helps to know when you ovulate. I am scheduled to return in exactly 3 weeks for another ultrasound and more blood work. The doctor also told me I should start taking 1 baby aspirin a day (81 mcg) to help with any risk of blood clotting issues. So now on my list of daily meds: Prenatal, Folic acid, and Aspirin We are mapping out a plan of regular and frequent appointments. Without further ado her is the newest little Booker.
As mommy was busy at the doctors Mark and Carson went to the Park and also took our dog June to the dog park. Here is a pictures from that.
And finally we had our friend Travis over for Wings, mac and cheese, and beer ( at least for the big boys). We live on base so I always try to invite some of Mark's single friends over for dinner so they can have a home cooked meal every now and again. I know that most of these guys survive on pizza rolls and hot pockets. Not in my house!

Afternoon sickness

So today I had my first "sick" day, I lost all of my breakfast and lunch. So not so fun, why do they even call it morning sickness when it's all day long?! Thankfully I look at the symptoms like this: If I have them, everything is okay so far. I know looking back on it with Lucas my symptoms did go away and some things were abnormal, but I just thought I was going to have an easy pregnancy.

I broke down and had Mark buy a 2 liter of soda today but it is Caffeine free coke and I made some brownies! Also on a better note I rearranged my living room with the help of my neighbors of course. They were great! We got it done in like 5 mins and I love it. It really opened up the area and filled in some empty spaces. For those who know how base housing are, they are petty cookie cutter and sometimes from older designs. Mine was built sometime around 1965, so we have our fair share of what were they thinking designs?!

Here is a picture of roughly what the size of our little sweet pea looks like. We are 5 weeks and 3 days.
No peas were harmed in the making of this photo and all were eaten!

I'm Swell

Literately I am swelling! How can this be? My little fetus is only the size of an apple seed!  I was scouring the internet for ways to help with swelling. I came across a few and thought I would share.

  •     Cut down on salt, this causes your body to retain water.
  •     Avoid junk food, which is high in salt and fat and low in vitamins and fiber
  •     Drink lots of water (8, 8-ounce glasses a day is minimal!)
  •     Rest your feet and legs by spending some rest time each day with your feet up.
  •     Avoid caffeine, which can be dehydrating
  •     Eat foods rich in potassium—like bananas, dried fruit or nuts
  •     In summertime heat, stay cool. Spend time in the swimming pool, or in air-conditioned places
  •     Use cold compresses on swollen areas
  •     Get adequate exercise, to aid in circulation and keep your weight steady
I have cut back on my salt and junk food intake, I don’t drink caffeinated beverages, I drink plenty of water, I am always resting lately due to exhaustion, It is still winter, and I am doing yoga so hopefully with all of my efforts combined it will help to stay swelling free. I know it is normal in the first couple of months to bloat and swell as well as towards the end. By these little tips I hope to fully avoid this problem.

Craving Time!

So I know it's a little early, but it is never to early to start to have a need for certain foods. Lately I have been craving sushi, everyday all day. I love it! There are a lot of foods that are not allowed to be consumed while pregnant and sushi could be grouped into that. Luckily for yours truly I have been sticking to the cooked or vegetable  kind and still been able to satisfy my need for sushi! I found a great list on Parents.com that lists safe foods and things to avoid. I'll link the page at the bottom.

1. Stay away from soft cheeses ( unfortunately for me, that means no blue cheese dressing )
2. No Deli meats and Cold cuts ( Avoid deli meats unless they are heated up )
3. Watch out for high mercury fish ( It is safe to eat up to 12 oz of low mercury fish a week )
4. Raw or runny eggs (I only eat fully cooked scrambled so I'm good )
5. Watch our for high amounts of caffine ( I don't drink soda, coffee, or caffeinated tea!)
6. Skip Sweet'N Low, but you can use other artificial sweeteners in moderation.
7.  Check your herbal tea ingredient label and ask your doctor if there's anything in it you should avoid
8. If you get heartburn, skip anything spicy; if you don't, indulge away.
9. It's safest to stick to virgin versions of your favorite drinks until baby arrives.

I hope this was somewhat helpful, it was for me, and if you are anything like me you try to stick to all the rules when it comes to being pregnant.

Week 5!

35 weeks left! The morning sickness has officially kicked in. Woo Hoo for me... not. Also the pregnancy nightmares started last night, I always dreaded those with the boys.  Thankfully, I have been able to take my prenatal and folic acid every morning at breakfast and  they have not affected my stomach at all! I had so many problems taking them with the boys, they would make me so sick and then I would just stop taking them which in my opinion it is not worth the risk. Looking back I wish I would of found this brand alot sooner and maybe it could of helped with both of their developments. Who knows. These are the vitamins I am taking. The prenatal has 800 mcg of folic acid and then I take an extra 400 mcg every day. That is a VERY important vitamin to have at this point in time. It helps with the growth and formation of the baby.

We went for a stroll around Walmart last night, I went over to the bakery section to look for Goob's birthday cake and instantly my stomach started churning. I found Mark is the clothing section and hightailed it out of their. The cold weather and wind felt so good on my face, I was extremely clammy and ill feeling. Then I fell asleep as soon as we got home and I got Goob into bed. Around 2:30am I woke up with suddenly because of a horrible dream. Mark, Goob, and I were on getting onto an elevator, I have no idea where we were or how high up we were but as soon as the doors closed the cables snapped and the elevator car started to tumble down the shaft. I woke up before we hit. These dreams while pregnant are so real and vivid, it is so scary. So I got very little sleep after that and woke up at 6am then could not fall back to sleep.

Baby's Development this week is the little heart should start beating, the brain is being formed, it already has the simple forms of its liver, pancreas, lungs, stomach and nasal pits while its heart is increasing its circulatory capacity. The baby is roughly 5 mm big right now!

246 days to go...

So I went to my first appointment today, it went as well as could be expected. I did a urine test, which came back positive! I had some blood drawn and was given my referral to see an OB. Luckily I am able to go see the doctor who did all of my testing after having Lucas. He was great and came highly recommended. I know some woman prefer a female doctor and I do to, but I feel comfortable with him and I like that fact that he knows my history already. So good news on all fronts...

Now onto my greatest challenge finding a fun way to tell my mom and dad, I have another appointment with my OB next Tuesday which a ultrasound is a good probability. I will probably wait until after that to start telling folks in my family, including my parents. This new baby has been a long time coming it seems like, I wish I could shout my excitement from the rooftop! For now though I have to settle with sharing on here and talking to my fellow moms on Baby-Gaga.

Birthday planning and Doctor Appointments!

So Goob will be 4 in about a month! It's is crazy to think it has been that long. He has decided on a Super Hero themed party, were everyone (including mommy) will dress up in capes and masks! I am now scouring the internet for cool food, game, and party ideas. So far I have found some pretty cool stuff. He has never had a party were he invited friends over so this year will also be a first for that as well.

As for our other little spawn, so far so good. I have some mild nausea today, and am about ready for my mid afternoon nap. I have an appointment tomorrow with my pcm, and she will refer me out to an OB specialist which I will hopefully see in the next week or two. Because of my history, I am deemed high risk this time around, but that just means they will keep an extra close eye on the bean, which in turn means more ultrasounds for mommy!

The song

This is the song I mentioned in my first post. It got me through a lot of rough times after we lost Lucas.

4 weeks 3 days

Well it is officially a new year, I rang in it in by toasting with water! We have been getting our positives since December 26, 2011. I have taken a total of 7 tests so far. 2 digital, 2 Frer's, and 3 dollar store tests... all of which have either had the line or read positive! This puts my Edd at September 6, 2012 based off my date of conception which was December 15, 2011. Right now according to tickers baby Booker is roughly the size of an orange seed! It's amazing to think in about 35 weeks we will hopefully be holding our little boy or girl.
I am apart of a great site for moms called babygaga, it is always pretty helpful. I will post the link at the end for anyone who would like to check it out.

Symptoms for today: excessive urination, headaches, exhaustion, mood swings, and pimples everywhere!

Carson's Story

Now onto what happened with my oldest Carson. He was born at 32 weeks and spent 4 weeks in the NICU. My water naturally broke at 6 in the morning, and I lost the entirety of my mucus plug about 10 mins later. My dad drove me to the military hospital where my mom met us shortly after. Of course on the way my dad stopped for Micky D's. lol Thats just my dad. The Navy hospital realize that I was in fact in real labor and that they could not handle a preemie baby so I was then transferred via ambulance to a big city hospital. Before I left I was given magnesium, although I am not sure why. I get to the big cushy city hospital and then feel my water break again....wrong it was blood. I had started to hemorrhage out due to a full placental detachment. My blood pressure dropped drastically and there was a lot of nurses and doctors running around in what seemed to be a slight panic. Next thing I knew I was being rushed down a hallway, the lights were zooming over me and my mom was crying. She kept saying "I love you, everything will be okay." I was taken into a large sterile operating room and asked to count back from 10. I woke up in recovery, but I don't remember much. I was finally brought to my maternity room

Carson was born at 12:26pm on February 6, 2008. His due date was March 29, 2008. He weighed a whopping 5lbs 11oz and was 19 in long. I was surrounded by family and friends the rest of the evening. Unfortunately, I was not able to go see my new little boy until about 1 in the morning because I had to come off of the morphine that they had given me for pain after my surgery. I was finally able to hold him 2 days later. He was kept because the magnesium that was given to me was transferred over to him. It was too much for his little body to handle. His intestines paralyzed and he was not able to eat or digest anything for the first 2 weeks of his life. Then he had to learn how to eat first from a tube then from a bottle before he was able to come home. He came home on March 2, 2008.

A new day has come...

The song by Celine Dion "A New Day has Come" has been so inspirational for me these past couple of months. If you have never heard it I recommend you listening to the slow version.

My name is Heather, I am the mother to a 3 year old little boy who we will call Goob. His real name is Carson Miles. He is extremely big for a 3 year old, and he is exceptionally smart and artistic. I know most people think that about their kids but in my case it is 100% true. I have a great husband, Mark, who is in the Navy. I am lucky enough that he can provide and I get to be a stay at home mom. We have always talked about having kids ( Carson is mine from a previous relationship but knows Mark as his only dad ) but it has never been that simple. Here is our story

Lucas James Booker was born on June 15, 2011 at 17 weeks and 1 day old. He was born a sleeping angel. He had developed something called a Cystic Hygroma which is like a water filled tumor. He ended up losing his fight with it and passed from heart failure. After 13 hours of labor and no pain meds I delivered my 1.5 oz baby boy. I ended up having to go get a D&C after delivery because my placenta would not release and come out. I think about this everyday and wonder what if I did this or what if I caused it. I have finally come to terms with the fact that I did not cause any of this. We had genetic testing done not only on Lucas but on me as well and all results came back negative for everything. That was also a heartbreaking day. I hate not having answers, my only conclusion is that we were not meant to have him at that time. I believe in fate and I think I understand the reasoning behind it. He will always be in heart.

We are now expecting another little one on September 6, 2012. 1 week before my birthday. We are hoping for the best but taking it only one day at a time. It is scary, every little twinge or pain I get freaked out about. I only want one thing a healthy baby. The sex, appearance, or date does not matter. Hopefully you will follow on this journey with me. We are waiting to tell friends and a lot of family until 17-20 weeks. So this will be our little secret
