pictures and doctors

So I took Goob to his 4 year check up today, he still has his cold so I assumed we would be rescheduling the shots he had due for today. Nope Carson got 4 shots, 2 in each arm. He had to do the normal hearing and vision tests and the coughing no no zone test. Poor kid I thought he would come out of skin during the no no zone test. I finally got my new pictures uploaded and I will make more on Friday :)

12 weeks!

It has been quiet a rough week. I started out with a bladder infection on Sunday, then started with the respiratory infection on Monday night. I have been on antibiotics which have been helping a little bit, but most of the week the only time I get any relief from my congestion headache is sitting in the shower. Then yesterday Carson woke up with a cough and a fever set in!  So now I am starting to get over it, I still have a nasty cough but that's about it, and Carson is starting it. Poor thing, I am just glad he is in such good spirits. He was even doing jumping jacks in the living room today because he was bored. So I turned 12 weeks yesterday and little Poofs heartbeat has been steady everyday between 165-175 bpm. I have been really worried because of the fever I have had, I have lost 6 pounds this week because of loss of appetite, and the meds I have been taking... but s/he is still going strong.

I go for my next check up on Tuesday, I will be 12 weeks 5 days. I will be having the first trimester screening done, to make sure everything is a-okay so far. It is a simple ultrasound and blood test, to check for any genetic abnormalities. This will be a very important test because with Lucas, he had a cystic hygroma and hydrops. A cystic hygroma is clearly visible on an ultrasound anytime after 9 weeks. This happens in 1 out of every 10,000 pregnancies. The chance of it happening twice to me is less than 1%, but I would rather know ahead of time. Once we get the results back from this test we will start to discuss when we will announce this newest little Booker.

Mark wanted me to include last nights supper in today's blog... I made an atomic tuna salad inside pita pockets. I used canned tuna, fat free mayo, chopped broccoli, chopped cauliflower, and finely chopped red onions. I mixed it all up and stuffed it into the pita pockets with fresh spinach.

He also went out and finally got his memorial tattoo for Lucas. He had an old tattoo from his young single sea days covered up (YES!) and it came out amazing. The rose is the birth flower for June, and I think the rest is pretty self explanatory.

Zoo fun

So today we had another nice family outing! It was a brisk 57 degrees but sunny and it felt good. We went to the Memphis Zoo for the first time and it was great! We had so much fun. I got some new shoes with arch support because usually I only wear flats, and those have my feet screaming by the end of the night. It is now 6:30pm, I am laying in bed and ready to sleep. Unfortunately I woke up this morning with a head cold and cough that rattles my chest every time. It sucks, so hopefully I will be able to nip it in the bud before it gets to be a full blown sickness.
Here are some pictures from today :D
Trying to share his pizza with the monkey

He was crying because the ice cream stand was closed.

This pregnant cow was following me around the yard.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Time for this girl to hit the hay!

Girl Power

So I got my other gender predictor test in the mail today, so I saved up all the urine I could for as long as I could. And then took it.

The result was pretty funny in my opinion. I mean it has a 50/50 chance of being wrong so it is all in fun. Also I woke up with a pretty intense headache so I broke down and took some Tylenol. I have been trying so hard to keep all of this from facebook. There are so many friends and family members who do not know. Every time I feel exhausted, I have morning sickness, or I hear little poof's heartbeats I just want to scream it from the mountain tops... or the top of my facebook feed. lol Only 5 more weeks before I will feel comfortable enough to announce it to the world! Until then here are my results from the test...

all girl! Mark is super excited about this test.

Healthy Start and 11 weeks!

So because of recent medical issues that have come to light, we have decided to take a turn towards a healthier eating lifestyle. We are going half vegetarian, I know how can you be half?! Well we will continue eating chicken/ turkey/ and fish. Lots of vegetables and fruits, fiber, and whole grains. So for dinner tonight I made personal pita pizzas. I used whole wheat pita bread, a little bit of regular tomato sauce, goat cheese, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, spinach, smoked salmon, and turkey pepperoni. I piled the little pita's high, baked them at 400 degrees. About halfway through I took them out, drizzled evoo on top and some cracked pepper. Then popped them back in for another 5 minutes. This was my result
The one above was mine, I choose to pass on the pepperonis. I am personally not a huge fan. I was when I was pregnant with Carson though. He loves them.
Mark had everything on his pizza and Carson had just pepperoni and cheese. I have to say they were great! For dessert we had pomegranate blueberry milkshakes.

I am officially 11 weeks today and am in awe by how fast these past few weeks have gone. In a mere 2 weeks I will be out of the first trimester and sailing into the second. I still have morning sickness all day if I don't take my zofran so I am hoping that will soon end. I would hate to be one of those woman who has morning sickness throughout the whole pregnancy! The baby is roughly the size of a lime now and little poof's hair and nails are starting to grow in. Also the much anticipated sex organs are developing so our baby officially has a sex now... we just can't tell what it is yet :D

Intelligender

So today is Valentines day! We had a great day, Mark got me a diamond key necklace, a box of chocolates, and a glass blown heart. He surprised me by coming home early and caught me still in bed. lol Carson slept in this morning until 10:30 so I did too. I slept like a log, it was great. Well today we went out to gamestop and the commissary. I made a great steak dinner and we relaxed the rest of the night. I bought the intelligender today and used it, the results were interesting. We used this with Lucas at 9 weeks and it said he was a boy. It has a 50/50 chance of being right and I know that it is purely for fun. According to this test, we are expecting another boy. Time will tell only 5 more weeks to go and we can find out the sex.

What a day

So we spent the whole day walking around the mall and spending some family time together. I finally got my sour fix, with a small bowl of Willy Wonka sour spree's! I also got a new pair of maternity pants, 2 new shirts, under garments, and a new pair of jammie's! Then my doppler came in the mail today! It was awesome. We picked up little poof's heartbeat right away then s/he kept moving and we couldn't get a good hold on it. The heartbeat measured 168 beats per minute, it was so relieving to hear that sound. I am sore from walking and tired so I am snuggled in bed and going to hit the hay early. I promise I will find my camera cord tomorrow so I can upload birthday pictures and new belly pictures. Here is a video of the heartbeat, we only caught it for a couple seconds but the first heartbeat you hear is it. Also the 113 heartbeat the screen shows is from picking up mine a couple seconds before, it had not recalibrated yet.

What's in a name?

Well we have finally decided on a boy name and a girl name. I am so excited and I love both! I am going to call my mom tonight and ask her if she minds if I use a certain name for the middle name, if this little poof is a girl. So once I get the okay I will post the names :D

Also I have decided to call baby Booker, little poof until we know the sex of the baby.

It is a hot, hot 37 degrees today with frequent light snow flurries. So I believe today I will be making a quick trip to the grocery store for some much needed fiber and snacks, and try to stay warm! I ordered some baby shower gifts for our cousin Tina and I cannot wait until she gets them! Also I am crocheting her some hats still.

I am still off my Zofran, which sucks. I feel miserable and sick. Hopefully by adding a ton more fiber to my diet, I will be able to start taking the zofran again. Also I have a hankering for some pineapple cake, so I think I will be making some tonight!

A whole week

It's been a long week. So Goob's 4th birthday party went off without a hitch! He had so much fun and I imagine all his friends did as well. I will post up pictures tomorrow. Of course after this much anticipated birthday party, I was utterly exhausted. I have been absent from all forms of Internet since Sunday, and I must say it has been nice. I have been resting up and focusing on my house. We received our tax refunds today and I got to get a new laptop. I love it and I am currently laying in bed writing this to you. I will be 10 weeks tomorrow! Can you believe it, because I cannot! I am getting more anxious and excited every week that goes by.

Carson made an interesting suggestion for the baby's name today... are you ready for this? Poof! no that was the name "Poof" he informed me that it works for a boy or girl, but he hopes it's a boy baby. He told me to use my imagination to make sure it's a boy. I love how a child's mind works. He is also getting very excited and helped his dear old mommy clean up the baby/guest room and even gave the baby some of his favorite stuffed animals ( a giant elephant pillow )

I have been on Zofran for a week now and it has caused some unwanted issues... If you are squeamish or don't care for TMI's just skip this next part.... constipation. It has been horrible, today I am counting day 5 of being irregular. It is making me irritable, cranky, and just about any other word to describe bitchy. I bought some Miralax yesterday, and it smelled and tasted like Elmer's glue. It was horrible and I gagged the whole time. I was able to get a little relief today, but very little. So now I feel like I have to decide which is the worse between the two evils... being horribly constipated or throwing up several times a day, everyday.

I will be getting the intelligender this week, which I know is just for fun. It was right for Lucas, but I look at it this way it has a 50/50 chance of being right or wrong. I will post pictures and step by step instructions for what I will be doing probably Friday morning. They say it works best if you use first morning urine, or if you hold your urine for more than so many hours. Which lately seems impossible to hold it because I have been drinking tons and tons of water .I crave ice water and Jolly ranchers, which I have conveniently hidden around the house, so no one else will eat them!

Doctor update

So I am 8 weeks 6 days today, I went to the doctors for an appointment yesterday and everything looks good! I don't need to go back until 12 weeks, so February 28th is my next appointment. My doctor prescribed me Zofran which is an anti nausea medicine. I plan on going to the pharmacy today and filling it.  Hopefully it will help me, I have actually lost a little bit of weight since my last appointment too. My boys went with me to the doctors and poor things waited in the waiting room for an hour and a half while I waited to see my doc.

I did a urine test, I had blood taken again, and then my doc finally saw me. We talked a little about my symptoms and my previous pregnancies again. Then he tried to listen for the heartbeat on the doppler. It is still quiet early though, most dopplers wont pick it up until about 10 weeks. I ended up having an ultrasound done real quick to check the heartbeat, the little bub was moving around and had a very strong heartbeat at 179. Which according to more old wives tales means little bub is a girl. I think I have finally resigned myself to this fact, my gut is telling me she is a girl. Oh I also cut about 5 inches off of my hair! haha I love it, Mark is getting used to it. He prefers me to have long hair.
